Bitspower dual d5 pump serial top
To match the pump outputs, could I say turn up the 2nd pump until it starves a bit then back down in speed until it's no longer starving? Multi Pump Setups — Parallel vs. Series While most veteran water coolers have come to accept that pumps in series is the preferred through practice, occasionally the question of series vs.
There i…. I also chose two different pumps so I could more closely examine the result of pumps in series and parallel vs the single pump results. In the end, the two mixed pumps worked perfectly together, and the test results using two different pumps did find some interesting details out for me particularly the parallel test results. The result was somewhat as expected Very Poor , but there are some interesting oddities.
When you run two pumps in parallel, the curves somewhat get stacked in the X or flow rate direction with an averaging of pressure. The parallel curve crosses the single DDC curve at about the same point.
Reactions: Meghan I am not really familiar with those pumps,. Damn, I haven't seen an iwaki in years. They don't push against the other, they become one. And ideally look for a dual mount. If you don't use a dual mount then you can take advantage of restrictive points in your loop and stick a pump there.
Otherwise they work together in unison in series. I thought I read somewhere that having the pumps at difference speeds can negatively effect one of them. Say the 2nd one is running slower than the 1st, so the 1st is having to "push" against the impeller of the 2nd. Is that BS or does that actually happen? In the end, the two mixed pumps worked perfectly together. Think of it like a tug of war, and the guy in front of you isn't as strong.
It doesn't impede your strength. And as Martin's testing showed, even using two diametrically opposed pumps, one high head pressure and one low head pressure and yet they "worked perfectly together. With all the variables it would take me a year to find out what high or low speed fans would work best with what rad. No record runs will be attempted. LOL One last thing he intends to build a nice system. That said there really is no dollar limit but he is not rich.
Just keep in mind to be reasonable when suggesting parts. Thanks for any help. Joined Dec 27, Messages 8, 1. The dual D5 top is nice, but way overboard. At most I'd suggest 2xD5's with separate tops. And the link is only for the top, you'd still need 2 Laing D5's or the appropriate variable ie Corsair D5 or Swiftech Radiators with a high fin per inch ratio will do better with lower rpm fans.
Less fins means less dissipation and a need for higher rpm fans. We then measure the flow and plot a line charting the relationship between pressure and flow. So this is what the setup looks like:. Except that the top shown is the Bitspower dual top which we used as a reference. We also used two Laing tops connected with tube as another reference:.
The last point of reference is a mathematical construct of what two EK single tops would be like when put in series assuming no efficiency losses. If we plot all of these together then we see this:. This means that this dual top is about as perfect a performance as you could get. Initially I assumed there would be some compromise for choosing a compact dual top, and there is if you choose the Bitspower top.
